ragged

At Zimmermanns, we know that doesn’t feel a whole lot like December. In fact it feels more like stupid ol’ spring time. This extremely unseasonable weather is only good news for those New Englanders whose main snow-based activity is shoveling. For the rest of us “normal” New Englanders, who have been waiting for snow since it all melted last winter, this speedo wearing, beach weather is a curse seconded only by that of the Bambino. I digress…

But you’ve got to have faith in Mother Nature and in New England, just because there isn’t snow in your backyard, doesn’t mean that snow hasn’t fallen somewhere, not to mention that the crews of geniuses responsible for snowmaking haven’t been working harder than Santa’s elves. In fact this collaboration has made for some great early season skiing and riding at several resorts in the northeast.

  • Killington Resort in Vermont has 25 open trails
  • Loon Mountain Resort in New Hampshire has 101 acres of terrain
  • Sunday River in Maine has 10 miles of terrain open
  • Plus, there are a number of other local resorts, like Ragged Mountain in Danbury, NH, that have top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding, and will be running their snow guns at every possible opportunity!

After one of the snowiest winters in recent memory last season, this year has seemed like a major disappointment, but there is still hope for another major winter. According to the good folks who create the Farmers’ Almanac, they are predicting another snowy winter for the northeast.

The good news is that there is still time! With this warm weather you still have time to tune your skis, buy that new jacket, take stock of your children’s snow gear inventory. New England will be covered in snow before you know it, don’t let this warm weather fool you. We all just want things to get started as early as possible !
