Avalanche Awareness

Forever1111 Organization was created in loving memory of Madelyn “Maddie” Eitas to honor the extraordinary light she brought into the lives of those around her.

What began as a way to process unimaginable loss has grown into a mission rooted in connection, purpose, and community. The organization reflects the way Maddie lived: bringing people together, supporting others, and finding joy in every moment.

Today, Forever1111 continues to grow through the support of family, friends, and a community committed to carrying her spirit forward.

AVALANCHE AWARENESS

Know Before You Go. Ride Smart. Come Home Safe.

Fresh snow, untouched lines, and the thrill of exploring the backcountry are what make skiing and snowboarding so incredible. But beyond the boundaries of maintained ski trails, the mountains demand respect.

Avalanches can happen quickly, often without warning, and even experienced skiers and riders can find themselves in dangerous situations.

Before heading into avalanche terrain, remember:

Know the Conditions – Check the local avalanche forecast, weather, and snowpack conditions before heading out.

Carry the Right Gear – Every member of your group should have an avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe—and know how to use them.

Get Educated – Take an avalanche safety course. Understanding terrain, snow conditions, and rescue techniques can save lives.

Never Go Alone – Travel with experienced partners, communicate your plan, and make sure someone knows where you’re going.

Know When to Turn Around – No powder run, summit, or untouched line is worth risking your life.

The best days on the mountain are the ones everyone comes home from.

At Zimmermanns Skis, Boards & More, we believe enjoying the mountains starts with respecting them. Whether you’re exploring the backcountry for the first time or have years of experience, avalanche awareness should always be part of your preparation.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.
